Karrawirra Parri, Near Adelaide, SA
The Kudlila Rally in South Australia is an unsupported bikepacking event created by Simon Eglinton. The route threads from the River Torrens/Karrawirra Parri to the Spencer Gulf in Port Augusta, traversing the Adelaide Hills, Southern Flinders Ranges using some segments of the Mawson Trail.
There are two suggested route options. These are still a draft so don’t download them yet as there will be some small changes, any suggestions welcome:
There’s a suggested leave time of 6.00am in front of the Torrens boat sheds, on Saturday 3rd of July. This should be early in the Kaurna wet season ‘Kudlila’.
Simon acknowledges the Kudlila Rally passes through the traditional lands of Kaurna, Ngadjuri, Nukunu and Banggarla people. He would like to pay his respects to elders past, present and future.
Tracking will be available.
Standard bikepacking Event rules can be found here:
Bus timetable to get back to Adelaide, they will take bikes:
The Kudlila Rally is Simon’s own ride that he’s created and he will be doing it when it suits him, if anyone else wants to come along and have the ride tracked on the same page that is up to them and their own preparations. It’s your ride if you want to come along, you should research the route and determine what you need to get by safely. There are sections with no water or phone reception and if there is rain some of the tracks will turn to death mud which could leave you stranded.
Turn up if you want, ride some or all of it, tracked or untracked, it doesn’t really matter to me but might make it more fun.
